Teaching is complex and full of challenges. One challenge is being able to meet all the students needs in the classroom. Time to organize and plan varied experiences is always at a premium. Do you have a simple thing you do in your classroom to challenge the gifted students in your classroom? If we start sharing, we can help each other out and our students too!

My example: When I taught, my students (6th graders) did a research project on an ocean creature. I simply differentiated which ocean creature they were assigned. I assigned my gifted students the most difficult to research creatures. This meant I had to teach them how to find this information and how to make connections with what was available. It was a simple way to increase the complexity of the task. If I assigned well, my students would almost all use the same amount of time rather than having the gifted
students done in a flash!
